It is a gateway to the Pacific Rim; the Wall Street of the West; ground zero for the technological revolution. And, it is home to the USF School of Law.
For a student at USF, the city becomes an extension of the campus and plays a vital role in the overall educational experience. It presents an unusual and exciting environment for studying and living.
The campus is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, adjacent to Golden Gate Park, a marvelous recreational facility occupying over 1,000 acres and stretching from the University to the Pacific Ocean. Yet, the law school is only minutes by direct public transportation from the Civic Center, where federal, state and local governmental agencies are located and where federal and state courts, including the California Supreme Court, are regularly in session.
The San Francisco Bay Area provides exceptional learning, practice, placement, and service opportunities to complement the academic program. Students are able to represent clients in law school clinics, handle real cases as an intern in a public interest law office, teach law to youngsters through the Street Law Program, experience how cases are decided by clerking for a judge on the trial or appellate level, or work in one of the many law offices in this major metropolitan center.
San Francisco also provides extensive cultural, recreational and social opportunities. The city itself offers a unique and almost limitless variety of entertainment, hundreds of restaurants, the Giants and 49ers, as well as museums, theater, symphony, ballet and opera. In addition, the greater Bay Area, including the East Bay (Berkeley and Oakland), the North Bay (Marin, Napa and Sonoma counties) and the South Bay (San Jose, Silicon Valley, and Palo Alto) concentrates an unsurpassed number of educational, cultural and recreational resources.
