Class Gift

Each year the graduating class, led by the Graduation Committee, comes together to continue a tradition of philanthropy at the USF School of Law. Graduating 3Ls and 4Ls create a legacy for their class and help future students for years to come.

About the Campaign

Why should I support the Class Gift Campaign?

The percentage of the class that contributes to the campaign is a direct indication of students’ impression of the overall quality of the faculty, services, and administration of the USF School of Law. The participation percentage is a bellwether to alumni, peer law schools, prospective students, and other influential groups as they evaluate the quality of the law school.

Why is participation so important?

If we achieve high participation, we can directly impact two important factors:

  1. Perception To alumni, other law schools, prospective students, employers, and other constituencies, a high participation rate is indicative of satisfaction with the quality of the school. These are important constituencies, as their actions further influence the reputation and perceived quality of USF School of Law.
  2. Alumni Participation The experience of current students is a strong indicator to alumni that USF is fulfilling its mission. Participation is an active testimonial that can leverage greater resources from alumni.
How can I contribute, given my debt?

Taking into account the high debt incurred by many students, the law school offers three options to make it possible for you to participate. Our goal is to have 100% participation!

What are the three options?
  1. Graduated Pledge Graduated Pledge This option enables you to make a modest payment in the first year, followed by incremental payments on the pledge over the next five years. This is a great way to have a substantial impact with an initial gift as small as $25.
  2. Spirit of 2010 This option enables you to boost our participation rate with an affordable, one-time payment of $25.
  3. Contribution Our #1 goal is participation. Every gift truly counts. You can support the campaign with a gift of $1, $5, or $10.

Where does the money go?

The Class of 2010 has a unique and exciting opportunity to create and support the USF School of Law Class of 2010 Endowed Scholarship.

What is an endowment?

The principal of the fund will be held in perpetuity and invested by the university. The fund income, which may include appreciation of principal but no part of the principal, shall be used for scholarships for qualified students. An endowment produces annual income to support USF School of Law, in perpetuity.
