Biographical Note

Professor Jan Honigsberg's current research focus is on enemy combatants, detention without due process, and other post-9/11 issues; he visited Guantanamo Bay in May 2007. He is the author of numerous articles and books, including Our Nation Unhinged: The Human Consequences of the War on Terror (University of California Press, 2009), "Chasing Enemy Combatants and Circumventing International Law: A License for Sanctioned Abuse" (UCLA International Law and Foreign Affairs Journal, 2007), and Crossing Border Street: A Civil Rights Memoir (University of California Press, 2000). Honigsberg is the creator and director of the Witness to Guantanamo project. The project documents the systematic human rights abuses and rule of law violations at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
