USF Law Boasts High Pass Rate

Nov. 29, 2007--The USF School of Law posted a pass rate of 85 percent on the July California Bar examination, a mark that was appreciably higher than the statewide average of 76 percent for first-time takers from California American Bar Association accredited law schools.

The May 2007 USF School of Law graduating class earned an 85 percent pass rate on the July California Bar Examination.

The rate also far exceeded the overall statewide average pass rate of 56.1 percent, according to a report issued Nov. 16 by the Committee of Bar Examiners.

"The most recent bar pass rate demonstrates the quality of USF's students and the education they receive," said USF School of Law Dean Jeff Brand. "The results also demonstrate that the law school's passion for training ethical professionals who can make a difference is matched by a rigorous, academically excellent educational experience, insuring that students can pass the bar and put their skills to work to achieve those inspirational goals."

The law school will celebrate graduates who passed the July 2007 bar exam on Friday, Dec. 7 with a bar swearing in ceremony. USF Law alumni will take oaths of admission to the California State Bar in a ceremony in St. Ignatius Church at 6:30 p.m. presided over by Justice Maria Rivera '74. A champagne reception will follow in Fromm Hall. For information, contact Kyle Saldivar at ksaldivar@usfca.edu or (415) 422-6757.
